What this helps you do¶

Get the Hi, Moose desktop app installed on your computer and sign in for the first time.

Before you start¶

• Supported platforms: Windows and macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel).
• You'll need an internet connection to sign in and to download updates, even if you plan to run everything else locally with BYOK.
• Decide which plan you want before you start. The free options are Preview Mode and BYOK Free; everything else is paid. You can always upgrade later.

Step-by-step¶

1. Create your account¶

You can start on the web or in the app — both end up in the same place.

On the web, go to console.himoose.com/sign-up. It asks what kind of work you do, takes your website, and creates your account with Google or email. Free to start, no card. It then reads your site and suggests the AI searches worth tracking, so you arrive in the app with real prompts already set up rather than an empty screen. The last step hands you the installer for your operating system.

In the app, download the installer first and create the account from the sign-in screen instead. Nothing is lost either way — the web flow just does the setup work before you install.

2. Install the app¶

• Windows: run the .exe installer.
• macOS: open the .dmg and drag Hi, Moose into Applications.

Installers for both platforms are on the downloads page.

3. Sign in¶

Open Hi, Moose and sign in with the email or Google account you just used. If you signed up on the web, the app picks up the searches you chose there.

4. Your first job¶

New accounts land in a short arrival flow rather than a settings screen. Moose takes one of your tracked searches, checks whether your site already has a page that answers it, and either proposes changes to that page or drafts a new one. You can send the result straight to a connected CMS as a draft, copy it, or skip the whole thing and look around yourself.

It finishes on the Visibility screen with an optional tour of what you're looking at.

5. Confirm your plan and key¶

On a BYOK plan you'll be prompted to add your own OpenRouter API key before model calls will run — see Account Types & Plans for what each plan needs.

Onboarding also creates your first project — the workspace that holds your brand voice, competitors, connections, and generated content for one website or brand.

Staying up to date¶

The desktop app checks for updates automatically. When an update is available, you'll be prompted to install it the next time you restart the app.

Coming from the legacy web app?¶

If you previously used the Hi, Moose web app (app.himoose.com), you'll need to create a new desktop account — desktop and web accounts are separate today. Your legacy account still works for the two features that remain there: Versus Pages and the Topical Authority Builder. Audio generation has moved into the desktop app.
