Installing & Signing In¶

What this helps you do¶

Get the Hi, Moose desktop app installed on your computer and sign in for the first time.

Before you start¶

• Supported platforms: Windows and macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel).
• You'll need an internet connection to sign in and to download updates, even if you plan to run everything else locally with BYOK.
• Decide which account mode you want before you start: Preview Mode (free), BYOK Free, BYOK Premium, or Paid Managed. You can always upgrade later.

Step-by-step¶

1. Download the installer¶

Download the Hi, Moose desktop installer for your operating system from the link provided by the Hi, Moose team or the app's release page.

• Windows: run the .exe installer.
• macOS: open the .dmg and drag Hi, Moose into Applications.

2. Sign in¶

1. Open Hi, Moose.
2. Sign in with your email or Google account.
3. If you don't have an account yet, create one from the same screen — new signups now happen in the desktop app.

3. Choose or confirm your account mode¶

After signing in, you'll land in onboarding, where Hi, Moose asks a few questions about your brand and domain to build initial context automatically. If you're on a BYOK mode, you'll be prompted to add your own OpenRouter API key at this point — see Account Types & Modes for what each mode needs.

4. Set up your first project¶

Onboarding walks you into creating your first project — the workspace that holds your brand voice, competitors, connections, and generated content for one website or brand.

Staying up to date¶

The desktop app checks for updates automatically. When an update is available, you'll be prompted to install it the next time you restart the app.

Coming from the legacy web app?¶

If you previously used the Hi, Moose web app (app.himoose.com), you'll need to create a new desktop account — desktop and web accounts are separate today. Your legacy account still works for the two features that remain there: Listen to this Article and Versus Pages.
