What a credit actually buys.
A credit is one token on a standard model. Bigger models cost more per token, so I publish the rate instead of hiding it behind an average. Your balance drains at the rate of whatever model you picked.
Local Gemma models cost zero credits, always. BYOK plans have no credit balance at all, because you're paying OpenRouter directly.

What are the free options?
BYOK Free is $0 and lets you use your own OpenRouter key for model calls, with local-only visibility runs and bounded Library/context features. The local Gemma model is free and unlimited on every plan, including this one.
What does BYOK actually mean?
Bring your own key. BYOK Free, BYOK Premium and BYOK Agency route model calls through your own OpenRouter key, so OpenRouter bills you at provider rates and we never take a cut. The paid BYOK plans buy you projects and features, not model access.
What is a credit, and why not just say tokens?
Because they are not the same thing, and pretending otherwise would be lying to you. One credit is one token on a standard model like GPT-5.4 or Claude Sonnet 5. Heavier models cost more per token: Claude Opus 4.8 burns 3 credits a token, Claude Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol burn 6. The full rate card is on this page. Managed plans only, and local models are always free.
What happens if I run out of credits?
You can buy a top-up pack: 500,000 credits for $25 or 2.5M for $100. They only get spent after your monthly allowance is gone, and they never expire. Top-ups are deliberately priced above every plan's per-credit rate, so if you find yourself buying them every month, moving up a tier is cheaper. I would rather tell you that than sell you packs.
What changes when I choose Managed?
Managed plans use Hi, Moose hosted models, so you do not need to supply a key. They add a monthly credit balance, deep research, competitor intel, local and cloud storage, more project capacity, admin logging and export, and unlimited monthly audio generation that consumes credits.
Can I add projects without changing plan?
Yes. Extra projects are $10 a month each, or $100 a year each, on any paid plan, up to 100 of them. If you are an agency with your own OpenRouter key, BYOK Agency at $149 gets you 25 projects, which works out cheaper than about eleven add-ons on BYOK Premium.
Is annual billing cheaper?
Yes. BYOK plans are two months free on annual. Managed plans are roughly ten percent off. You can see both numbers on every plan above.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Paid plans are month to month unless you chose annual. BYOK plans fall back to a free local-first posture, and managed plans stop hosted model usage when the paid entitlement ends.
Is my data sent to your servers?
Hi, Moose is local-first by default. BYOK plans keep model execution on your own key. Managed plans intentionally use hosted model infrastructure and cloud-backed plan features, so they are the right choice when you want Hi, Moose house-key model access instead of supplying your own key.
How do I get the free tee?
