What an AI credit buys.
An AI credit is one token at the 1x rate. Bigger models cost more per token, so I publish the rate instead of hiding it behind an average. Your balance drains at the rate of whatever model you picked.
Local Gemma models cost zero AI credits, always. Generated images bill at 5x. BYOK plans have no AI credit balance at all, because you're paying OpenRouter directly.

What are the free options?
BYOK Free is $0 and lets you use your own OpenRouter key for model calls, with local-only visibility runs and bounded Library/context features. The local Gemma model is free and unlimited on every plan, including this one.
What does BYOK mean?
Bring your own key. BYOK Free, BYOK Premium and BYOK Agency route model calls through your own OpenRouter key, so OpenRouter bills you at provider rates and we never take a cut. The paid BYOK plans buy you projects and features, not model access.
What is an AI credit, and why not just say tokens?
Because they are not the same thing, and pretending otherwise would be lying to you. One AI credit is one token at the 1x rate. Everyday models cost less than that: Gemini 3.8 Flash burns 0.3 AI credits a token, Claude Sonnet 5.5 burns 0.75. Heavier models cost more: Claude Opus 5.5 burns 1.5, and Claude Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra burn 4. The full rate card is on this page. AI included plans only, and local models are always free.
What happens if I run out of AI credits?
You can buy a top-up pack: 500,000 AI credits for $25 or 2.5M for $100. They only get spent after your monthly allowance is gone, and they never expire. Top-ups are deliberately priced above every plan's per-AI-credit rate, so if you find yourself buying them every month, moving up a tier is cheaper. I would rather tell you that than sell you packs.
What changes when I choose a plan with AI included?
AI included plans use Hi, Moose hosted models, so you do not need to supply a key. They add a monthly AI credit balance, deep research, competitor intel, local and cloud storage, more project capacity, admin logging and export, and unlimited monthly audio generation that consumes AI credits.
Can I add projects without changing plan?
Yes. Extra projects are $10 a month each, or $100 a year each, on any paid plan, up to 100 of them. If you are an agency with your own OpenRouter key, BYOK Agency at $149 gets you 25 projects, which works out cheaper than about eleven add-ons on BYOK Premium.
Is annual billing cheaper?
Yes. BYOK plans are two months free on annual. AI included plans are roughly ten percent off. You can see both numbers on every plan above.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Paid plans are month to month unless you chose annual. BYOK plans fall back to a free local-first posture, and AI included plans stop hosted model usage when the paid entitlement ends.
Is my data sent to your servers?
Hi, Moose is local-first by default. BYOK plans keep model execution on your own key. AI included plans use hosted model infrastructure and cloud-backed plan features, so they are the right choice when you want Hi, Moose to supply the models instead of using your own key.
Can I use Hi, Moose without installing the desktop app?
Yes. Agents and applications can connect to Moose through MCP and REST APIs, and our forward-deployed AEO team can run the work alongside yours. The plans on this page are for the desktop app, which is the full self-service workspace.
Can my agents or applications connect through MCP or REST API?
Yes. The Hi, Moose MCP server is included with every desktop plan, including free, for use in Claude or ChatGPT. Broader programmatic access to AI search observations, historical data, visibility measurements and specialized tools through MCP and REST APIs is the infrastructure offering, priced per engagement. Not every desktop feature is available through the APIs. Talk to us and we will walk through what your use case needs.
What is included in forward-deployed AEO?

What is the difference between desktop software and managed infrastructure?
Desktop software is the self-service app priced on this page. You or your team do the work in it. Managed infrastructure is Moose's AI search data, historical observations and specialized tools made available to your agents and applications through MCP and REST APIs, with custom pricing.
