TL;DR
- Hi, Moose now keeps a copy of your AI search answers on your computer, so the Visibility page can show any period without downloading it again. You can decide how much space you want it to use. For paid managed users, your visibility data is stored in the cloud as well and kept synced with your team.
- Settings has a new "Visibility history" section with the space the copy uses, a sync status line, and a space budget you can set.
- When you ask me for a CSV in chat I'll now build a file for you instead of you having to copy and paste the raw CSV.
- Crawls can now cover additional hosts, such as a docs or blog subdomain.
- Scheduled visibility runs that make use of "local fetch" can be assigned to one device on the team.
A local copy of your AI answers
AI Search Visibility collects how AI systems answer the prompts your target users search for, run after run. Over months that adds up to a lot of answers. In the 0.7.xx versions of the Hi, Moose app, the app now keeps its own copy on your computer and reads from that first, making reporting much faster.
Every tab on the Visibility screen works first from the local copy now, the tiles and trend chart, Topics & Engines, Competition, Prompts, Mentions, Citations and the Overview. If there is some historic visibility data not on your computer yet, a line under the period picker says how many days are still loading from the cloud, and the page fills in as they arrive. The sync keeps running in the background after that, catching up new days when a run completes and filling older days when the app is idle.
For Paid Managed customers on Hi, Moose, the cloud stays as the master copy. Nothing is removed from it and nothing is written to it differently. The full text of an answer still comes from the cloud when you open it with "View answer", the same as before. I (Moose) use the same local copy when you ask me about your visibility history in chat.
This is one of the reasons we made Hi, Moose a desktop app. Sums over a year of answers are quick when the data sits next to the app, and your own computer does the counting. Local app ftw.
The Settings screen now shows the storage space it uses
Settings now has a "Visibility history" section. It shows how many answers the current project holds on this computer, the size on disk, the oldest and newest day, and whether the sync is up to date or fetching a day right now.
Under that is a storage space budget, from 512 MB up to 8 GB, with 2 GB as the default. When the copy passes the budget, the oldest days are removed from this computer only. They come back from the cloud if you pick a period that needs them and importantly, if you are a paid managed user. Unfortunately we can not afford to supply free storage for everyone🙃. Your projects and your cloud history all stay as they are.
Again, the cloud sync capability is for paid managed plans. Free and BYOK projects keep their answers on their computer the way they did before. You can back those up at any point from the Settings screen.
Ask for a CSV, get a CSV file
If what you want out of a chat is a spreadsheet, say so. I build a CSV file and it will now show up in our chat as a file card with the row count, the column count and the size, plus a download button. This works for the things I can gather in chat, such as a list of suggested prompts or the pages a set of AI answers cited.
Site crawls crawl further
Settings has an "Additional hosts" option under Crawl settings. Add a host, such as a docs or blog subdomain, and the next crawl covers its pages too. Each host gets its own sitemap and robots.txt check, and its pages join the site inventory alongside your main domain. This came from a customer ask, thank you thank you!
Pick the computer that runs your scheduled checks
Some engines in a visibility run work from your signed-in sessions, specifically when they are using "local-fetch", which means a signed-in Hi, Moose install has to do the work. Settings now lists every install on the team, and the account owner can pick which one runs the scheduled checks. The chosen computer gets a 20-minute head start at the scheduled time. If it is off or asleep, another signed-in computer on the team takes over, and only one install runs each check. You can rename or remove a device from this list.
Also in the 0.7.15 build
- When you close the app it gives back disk space it no longer needs. If that takes more than a moment, a small window will let you know and the app closes by itself when it is done. Your projects, pages and results stay as they are. Moose (the dog) also gave back some couch space this week.
- On Windows there is a "Pin to taskbar" button in Settings, so the Moose icon stays one click away when the app is closed.
- Stopping a visibility run now asks you to confirm first, since it stops the run for everyone on the project. Results collected so far are kept.
- The pricing rate card gained GPT-6.1 Sol, DeepSeek V4 Pro, Kimi K2.6 and K3, and GLM 5.2 and 5.3.
- A round of performance work on the Visibility page, so large projects stay super responsive while a period loads.
FAQ
Where does Hi, Moose keep my AI search answers?
On paid managed plans, in two places. The cloud holds the master copy and keeps everything backed up, and the app keeps a copy on your computer so the Visibility page can show any period without downloading it again.
What happens when the local copy passes the space budget?
The oldest days are removed from this computer only. The cloud still has them (for paid managed users), and they come back if you pick a period that needs them. Your projects and your cloud history stay as they are.
Does the local copy apply to free and BYOK projects?
No. The local copy and the background sync are for paid managed plans. Free and BYOK projects keep their answers on your computer the way they did before.
How do I get a CSV out of chat?
Ask for one. Moose builds the file and it shows up in the conversation as a file card with a download button, with the rows, columns and size listed on the card. Us SEOs are constantly in spreadsheets, even now with AI everywhere, so this was a no-brainer feature to add. Hope you like it!
