Hand It Back to Moose

Moose walks through a week where Take control in Send Moose started pausing the job for real, citation numbers in reports became links, the topic filter learned to take several topics at once, and a renamed brand or a new domain stopped losing its visibility history.

TL;DR

  • In Send Moose, Take control now pauses the job: sign in or clear a gate in Moose's browser window, click Hand back to Moose, and Moose carries on.
  • Citation numbers in a Send Moose report are links now, so clicking one opens the source page in your default browser.
  • The topic filter on the AI Search Visibility dashboard takes several topics at once and has a search box, and the PDF report records the selection.
  • Renaming a project, changing the brand name, or moving to a new domain keeps your old visibility history intact and operating as usual.
  • The Bing index check in AEO audits now says what it is: a Microsoft Copilot signal, not a ChatGPT one, because ChatGPT doesn't depend on the Bing index alone (it has its own index and uses other vendors as well).

Hand it back

Send Moose is where you give Moose a job or goal and Moose goes and does it, reading the web alongside everything the app already knows about your brand. You can open the browser Moose is using and watch him browse and interact. And when it meets some kind of gate or login, you can take over.

When you take control away from the agents, it now temp pauses any new Moose work. Sign in, or clear whatever is in the way. Time you spend in control does not count against the job's budget. When you hand it back, Moose takes a fresh look at the page the browser is on now, notes that you were in there for a while, and picks up where it left off. Both sides of the hand-off show up in the Collaboration tab, so the record of the job shows who did what.

One thing to know about signing in inside that window: the Moose browser does not offer passkey sign-in. On sites that have a password or email-link option, pick that and the login goes through. Also, Back to the job now hides the browser window, and Watch browser brings it to the front again, so the window goes where you expect it to.

The numbers are links

Send Moose reports cite their sources with small numbered markers, each tinted with the colour of the source it points at. Those numbers are links now. Click one and the source opens in your default browser. Hover and you see the page title. The same markers in chat, when you ask a follow-up about a finished job, work the same way. This is a minor but super useful change for users using Send Moose feature heavily.

Less scrolling down to the Sources tab to find the page you want.

Several topics at once

The topic filter on the AI Search Visibility dashboard now takes as many topics as you want, with a search box for the long lists. The PDF report records the selection in its fact sheet, one topic by name or a count when there are several.

Also, small UI/UX bug fix, now switching projects clears the filters on the Visibility screen.

Your history follows you

Rename a project, change the brand name, or move the website to a new domain, and the visibility history from before the change stays intact correctly. The retired name becomes a secondary brand term and the retired host a secondary domain, on both the cloud copy and the local copy of your brand settings. The Mentions tab and the Citations tab read those aliases, so an old run that mentioned the old name still counts as a mention of you, and a citation of the old domain still counts as a citation of you. The Overview and the tabs agree with each other.

Nothing gets re-scored. Old runs are read with the new knowledge, which is cheaper and keeps the record honest. One thing the aliases do not touch: prompts that contain the old brand name in their wording. Regenerate those and you are set.

Google asks, you answer

Research-backed briefs start with a look at the live search landscape for your topic. That search can run long, and Moose waits for it, up to a minute and a half, before moving on. If it still comes back empty, Moose runs a secondary search in its own window as a fallback. If live research could not be collected at all, Moose will respond with that so you know what the brief was built on.

ChatGPT has its own index

AEO audits include a check of whether a page is in the Bing index, and the text around that check has been updated. ChatGPT has its own search index now. The Bing index powers Microsoft Copilot, so a page missing from Bing is invisible to Copilot even when it ranks well on Google. Absence from Bing is still a useful hint that a page is hard for answer engines to retrieve, and as before, confirm in Bing Webmaster Tools before treating the probe as final. The crawler access check lists Bingbot the same way.

Also this week

  • Get help from inside the app. The help icon in the bottom-left corner and the Need help link open a small panel with two choices: open the docs in your browser, or send a message to the Hi, Moose team and get a reply by email.
  • Team invites by link. Invite a teammate by email and they get a link that puts them straight into your workspace, sharing the same managed allowance. Account Owners can remove, suspend, and reactivate members from Settings under Team.
  • Docs caught up. The documentation now has pages for Send Moose and the entity graph, and refreshed pages across visibility, AEO audits, the inbox, site monitoring, and team management.

The app updates itself. If you are new here, the download is free for macOS and Windows.

FAQ

What happens to a Send Moose job while I have control of the browser?

It pauses. Moose makes no moves and the job's time budget stops counting while you are in control. When you press Hand back to Moose, it takes a fresh look at the page the browser is on and continues from there.

Can I sign in with a passkey inside the Moose browser window?

No. The Moose browser does not offer passkey sign-in. On sites that have a password or email-link option, pick that and the login goes through.

If I rename my brand or move to a new domain, do I lose my visibility history?

No. The old name is kept as a secondary brand term and the old domain as a secondary domain, and the Mentions and Citations tabs keep counting old runs as yours. Prompts that contain the old brand name in their text are not rewritten, so regenerate those.

Does the Bing index check tell me anything about ChatGPT?

Not directly. ChatGPT runs its own index, so the Bing check is a Microsoft Copilot signal. A page missing from Bing is still a hint that the page is hard for answer engines to retrieve.

Can I filter the visibility dashboard by more than one topic?

Yes. The topic filter now takes as many topics as you like, with a search box for long lists, and the PDF report records which topics were selected.
