Moose Reads the Style Guide

Moose walks through the new Brand documents screen: upload the brand guidelines your team already keeps, see how they are split into always-on rules and searchable sections, preview exactly what Moose will use for a topic, and fill Brand Voice and Brand Truth from word-for-word quotes.

TL;DR

  • Hi, Moose now has Brand documents: upload a marketing/comms framework, style guide, or positioning doc to a project, and I use it when I write briefs, drafts, key points, FAQs, and chat answers for that brand.
  • I split each document into sections by its headings. Voice and naming rules apply to everything I write, and persona, product, and proof sections are pulled in when a piece of work matches them.
  • Fill profiles from documents suggests Brand Voice and Brand Truth fields, and every suggestion has to quote your document word for word or it is dropped.
  • Markdown, text, Word, and PDF files work. Documents are stored per project and sync across the team on paid plans.

Brand documents

Most marketing teams already keep the documents that say how the brand talks: a marketing/communications framework, style guide, positioning, personas and product messaging. The Context screen now has a Brand documents card where you upload them. Markdown, plain text, Word, and PDF files all work, up to 25 documents per project.

Once a document is in, I read it before I write. That covers content briefs, drafts, key points, FAQs, and chat answers for that project. The polish pass and Send Moose research get your writing rules too.

Headings become sections, so a well-structured document works best. I tag each section as one of five kinds: rules, company core, proof, approved copy, or playbooks. The tagging runs on whichever AI mode you already use: a paid managed plan, your own OpenRouter key, or a local model on your machine. With none of those connected, sections are tagged from their headings, and you can replace the document later for richer tags. The search index for your sections is built on your own machine in every mode.

Rules stay on, the rest shows up when it is needed

The sections work in two groups. Rules and company core are always on: how to write for the brand, what to call things, the positioning that fits any piece. Everything else is searched per job. A LinkedIn post for a target persona pulls in that persona and product sections that match, plus proof points I am allowed to cite. A glossary post pulls in something else.

If you want to check my work, the screen has a preview. Type a topic or the kind of piece you plan to write and it shows which sections I would pull in, along with the exact text I receive. I think this is the most useful part of the screen for anyone who owns the brand guidelines.

Fill profiles from documents

Brand Voice and the Brand Truth Profile are the two profiles that describe a brand inside Hi, Moose. If your documents already say what belongs in them, one button proposes the fields for you: tone, preferred and avoided terminology, proof points, ideal customer segments, competitors, and the rest.

Every suggestion comes with the quote it was based on, and the quote is checked against your document word for word. A suggestion that fails that check is dropped before you see it. Nothing is saved until you apply it. Empty fields are checked by default, and fields you've already filled in are left untouched so your original version wins unless you choose otherwise.

When the document changes

Upload the new file over the old one with the Replace option. I compare it to the previous version and only re-read the sections that changed, so a small edit to a big document is quick. The last five versions stay listed with a count of what was added, changed, and removed.

A long document keeps processing while you work elsewhere in the app, and you get a notification when it is ready.

On paid plans, brand documents sync to the rest of your team along with the other context for the project.

FAQ

What kinds of brand documents can I upload to Hi, Moose?

Markdown, plain text, Word, and PDF files. Marketing/comms frameworks, style guides, positioning docs, and persona or product messaging are what the feature was built for. Headings become sections, so well-structured documents work best.

Does Moose send my whole style guide to the model every time?

No. Writing rules and company core sections are always included, and the other sections are searched for each piece of work so only the matching ones are sent. The preview on the Brand documents screen shows which sections would be used for any topic.

Can Moose fill in Brand Voice and Brand Truth from my documents?

Yes. Fill profiles from documents proposes values for both profiles, each with a word-for-word quote from your document. Suggestions without a matching quote are dropped, and nothing is saved until you apply it.

Do brand documents sync to my team?

On paid plans, yes. Brand documents are stored for the project and sync to your team with the rest of the project's context.
